Position: Clinical Informatics Analyst or Specialist
Region: Windsor – Essex
Description: This position may be hired as a mid-level analyst (CIA) or a specialist (CIS), depending on the candidate's qualifications &
experience.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Clinical Informatics Analyst (CIA) and Clinical Informatics Specialist (CIS) roles function within TransForm’s Clinical Systems Transformation and Information Systems divisions reporting to the Manager, Clinical Informatics. These key positions serve as champions for clinical professionals in the design, development, optimization, and adoption of TransForm’s Health Information System strategies across the Erie St. Clair region.
Both roles act as critical bridges between clinical practice and information services, translating user and patient needs into effective clinical information system solutions. They support ongoing operational needs beyond implementation to ensure continuous improvement, standardization, and enhanced adoption of electronic health records in alignment with regional and organizational goals.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
• Advocate for clinical professionals in the design, development, and optimization of health information system strategies.
• Serve as liaisons between hospital clinicians, leaders, allied health professionals, information services teams, and project staff to foster collaboration and shared direction.
• Translate clinical practice needs into system requirements, ensuring technology supports safe, effective, and evidence based clinical workflows.
• Support the adoption and standardization of clinical systems through education, training, workflow and process analysis, and quality focused continuous improvement.
• Document workflows and create models that inform system design, build, testing, and process optimization.
• Provide post implementation operational support to promote ongoing system improvements and advancements in EHR adoption across the region.
• Participate in the development and delivery of training programs in both classroom and individual settings.
Clinical Informatics Analyst duties:
• Play a collaborative, supportive role among CIS staff, clinicians, allied health teams, and IS professionals.
• Assist with documenting workflows and mapping clinical processes to inform system configuration, testing, and process improvement.
• Assist with implementing health information technology applications, tools, and processes that support clinical best practices.
• Contribute to training development and deliver education to enable frontline adoption and standardization.
• Support ongoing optimization efforts through workflow analysis, user assistance, and continuous improvement activities aligned with organizational and regional strategies.
Clinical Informatics Specialist duties:
• Serve as a lead liaison among clinical leaders, hospital executives, and IS professionals to guide strategic direction and decision making.
• Provide expert guidance across health information technology platforms, ensuring best practices drive system design and application in clinical settings.
• Lead the documentation, mapping, and analysis of clinical workflows to inform system design, testing, and optimization.
• Develop, implement, or evaluate applications, tools, and structures that support evidence based practice and improved patient safety.
• Lead planning, development, implementation, maintenance, evaluation, and support of adopted clinical technologies.
• Drive initiatives to streamline workflows, enhance practice efficiency, and create evidence based improvements in patient safety and quality of care.
MUST- HAVES:
• Minimum three (3) year college diploma or university degree in healthcare related discipline Health Information Management, Health Informatics or equivalent work experience
• CIA: Minimum of two to four (2-4) years of hospital experience preferred with direct patient care in a team environment and previous experience working on clinical systems implementations or health transformation projects
• CIS: Minimum of four to six (4-6) years of hospital experience with direct patient care in a team environment and two to four (2-4) years’ experience working on clinical systems implementations or health transformation projects
• Advanced computer skills (MS Office applications, navigation and understanding of IT concepts)
• Strong time management and analytical skills
• Knowledge of and experience in redesigning clinical processes to improve clinical practice, efficiency and patient care, preferably in conjunction with the implementation of a Health Information System
• Knowledge of and experience in developing, implementing and revising policies, analyzing workflows and making departmental or system wide improvements in practices using lean methodologies
• Strong ability to develop detailed clinical or technical documentation, training aids and how-to documents, and track work activities or issues
• Critical and strategic thinking abilities to work with complex systems, bridging community issues and regional and provincial activities
WE VALUE:
• Preferred registered Regulated Health Professional (in good standing)
• Preferred experience in formal clinical informatics
• Experience in project management and change management in a clinical setting an asset
• Experience with lean methodologies/principles an asset
OTHER CONDITIONS:
• Minimal exposure to disagreeable conditions typical of an office position: exposed to stress and pressure associated with multiple priorities and deadlines
• Must be able to travel within the Southwestern Ontario area, when required
• Must be able to work evenings and weekends, when required
Salary: $67,007 - $105,747 salary per year
Terms of Employment: Full-Time
